Propaganda, banda alemana de synth-pop, se formó en Düsseldorf en 1982. Firmaron con ZTT Records en 1983 y lanzaron su primer sencillo, «Dr. Mabuse», en 1984. A este le siguió su álbum debut de estudio, A Secret Wish, del cual dos sencillos, «Dr. Mabuse» y «Duel», alcanzaron el Top 30 en el Reino Unido.
A Secret Wish, escrito por Mertens y Dörper, recibió una considerable aclamación de la crítica, llegando al puesto número 16 en la lista de álbumes del Reino Unido. Tras el álbum, se publicó el sencillo «p:Machinery», que se convirtió en un éxito en Italia, Francia, los Países Bajos, Alemania y Suiza.
El grupo dedicó el resto del año a su gira «Outside World», que recorrió Europa y América. En noviembre de 1985 se lanzó un álbum de remixes, Wishful Thinking. Aunque inicialmente estaba pensado para el mercado de clubes estadounidense, también se publicó en Europa.
Esta caja recopilatoria, compilada y seleccionada por el experto en ZTT, Ian Peel, reúne el álbum, así como una selección de mezclas inéditas, temas no publicados y material en directo. Presentada en una caja de CD compacta y resistente, el libreto incluye una nota de Ian sobre la historia del grupo y el impacto que el álbum ha tenido a lo largo de los años.
